Top Story: Countdown to Becker’s Healthcare 14th Annual Meeting: What Steer’s CEO is Looking Forward to Discussing With You

As Founder and CEO of Steer Health, I’m looking forward to attending Becker’s Healthcare 14th Annual Meeting (April 8th-11th, Chicago). This event provides an excellent opportunity to connect with hospital executives and discuss key healthcare topics like health IT, burnout prevention, digital solutions, and strategic transformation.

I’m excited to discuss how AI can become a superpower for front office staff and clinicians, optimizing their workflows and patient experiences from the first appointment to follow-up care.

I’m also keen to attend sessions exploring how health systems are improving staff experiences and proactively tackling clinician burnout.

With that said, let’s dive into a few topics I am eager to discuss with you and an exciting session you can find me at next week.

The Digital Front Door (DFD)

Consumers, accustomed to seamless online experiences in other industries, increasingly expect the same convenience from their healthcare providers. The pandemic has only accelerated this patient-centric demand.

In a world of instant gratification, a strong digital front door (DFD) is crucial for a great first impression. It offers patients the convenience they demand while streamlining staff workflows. This integrated approach leads to a smoother patient experience and a more efficient healthcare system.

While technology offers vast potential, it’s crucial to remember that not all patients engage with technology in the same way. Too often, solutions prioritize provider efficiency at the expense of the patient experience.

A truly holistic digital patient engagement solution requires a blended approach. This ensures a seamless experience at every touchpoint while addressing:

  • Consistent Messaging: Maintain a clear brand voice across all channels including web, phone, sms and chatbot.
  • Compliance: Prioritize patient privacy with TCPA and HIPAA adherence.
  • Efficiency: Reduce security exposure with fewer integrations.

The greatest benefit of a well-designed digital front door (DFD) is an enhanced experience for both patients and providers. By offering choice and convenience, it fosters greater engagement and ultimately, a superior care journey.

So, out of all the solutions in the healthcare space, how do you know which is best for you? And, how can systems achieve this “blend” that is crucial for a complete DFD? Let’s talk about these digital transformation efforts further next week.

Privacy & Security Concerns When Integrating AI into workflows

As AI advances in healthcare, leaders will need to address a variety of concerns related to data privacy and security. Especially in this new era of digital patient documentation, one of the biggest challenges organizations face is managing data integration and maintaining integrity.

Stakeholders grapple with the risks inherent in handling patient information as AI automates documents and other valuable content. The potential privacy breaches demand a comprehensive understanding and proactive mitigation strategies.

I strongly believe that GenAI has the potential to change the course of healthcare for the better by helping to solve patient communication gaps, reducing staff burden, and, most importantly, boosting the patient experience. But, we must address the challenges of implementing this complex technology into existing systems through a proactive and inclusive approach.

Health systems will adopt governance policies specific to AI… eventually. So far, very few have done so, likely because many organizations remain in the early stages of evaluating and implementing AI solutions. But, it’s never too late.

If you are leaning toward implementing GenAI into your health system, it is advisable to collaborate with a reliable partner during the implementation phase and opt for a fully compliant and secure platform provider, such as Steer Health.

I can give you insight into practices to improve care and how AI can help your health system drive success.

AI + Digital Transformation Forum- April 8th

One session that our team is most anticipating is the AI + Digital Transformation Forum on April 8th.

Speakers, including Paul Butler, chief information officer at Regional West Health Services, and Nasim Eftekhari, executive director of applied AI and data science at City of Hope, will discuss how digital technologies are disrupting the healthcare industry and what we might expect in the future.

I am looking forward to learning more about the pressing challenges healthcare companies face and how to help find solutions for them and their patients.

Healthcare becomes better and more accessible as teams work to accomplish one or more shared goals. Most often, those goals include cutting costs, improving care, and increasing overall population health.

At the same time, attending events and participating in discussions with peers, stakeholders, and technology companies allows our industry to build a common supportive ground for every organization to thrive.

I hope to see you in the windy city next week!
